Welcome to Troop 273 Vernon Hills, IL

Welcome to Troop 273's Website!

Please see our "Upcoming Events" list on the right side of this page. This shows what our Troop is doing in the near term. Please contact us for more information on any event via the "Contact Us" menu selection to the left.

Our Troop meets Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30pm at Christ Lutheran Church which is located at 595 Deerpath Dr. in Vernon Hills, IL. We start our meetings in August and finish the scout year in June. Our Patrol Leaders Council is the only part of the Troop that meets on the first Thursday of the month. It is at the "PLC" meeting that we also hold our Scoutmaster Conferences and Board of Reviews.

Our Troop has the philosophy that is aligned with traditional scouting ideals. That is to say that the scouting program is to allow scouts to serve others by helping to instill values in young people and, in other ways, to prepare them to make ethical choices during their lifetime in achieving their full potential. We try to follow the three aims of scouting; character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. Through weekly meetings and monthly activities/camp-outs, the boys have a chance to grow into adulthood while learning life skills. The Scout Oath, Law, and Motto are what guides our scouts actions. If you are interested in a boy-led, traditional Scouting program, we welcome you to visit us. Stop by one of our meetings, or contact our Scoutmaster at scoutmaster@troop273vh.org.

November Campout/Family Dinner/Court of Honor

Posted on Oct 14 2017 - 12:49pm

November is our annual year-end review/court of honor. Campers will spend the weekend at Camp Crown. Activities are being planned by the PLC. There are opportunities for scouts to finish their rank advancement and be acknowledged that night. Each patrol will make an item to contribute to dinner. Webelos from packs are welcome to join us. Parents will prepare the meal. We will have a slide show of pictures of our activities throughout the year and a PowerPoint summary of each scouts achievements. The whole family is welcome. To camp for the weekend, select the 11/17 November campout and court of honor from the troop calendar. To just come up for dinner, select Dinner and Court of Honor Only – no camping on 11/18. All scouts are expected to stay on Saturday night to help clean-up after dinner. Campers need to camp through Sunday and come back with the troop and not leave Saturday night with their parents. This campout is local so if scouts have sports or other activities, they can negotiate a partial campout.
