Our Troop meets Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30pm at Christ Lutheran Church at 595 Deerpath Dr. in Vernon Hills, IL. We start our meetings in August and finish the scout year in June. Our Patrol Leaders Council meets on the first Thursday of the month.
Our Troop has the philosophy that is aligned with traditional scouting ideals. That is to say that the scouting program is to allow scouts to serve others by helping to instill values in young people and prepare them to make ethical choices during their lifetime in achieving their full potential. We try to follow the three aims of scouting; character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. Through weekly meetings and monthly activities/camp-outs, the scouts have a chance to grow into adulthood while learning life skills. The Scout Oath, Law, and Motto are what guides our scouts actions. If you are interested in a scout-led, traditional Scouting program, we welcome you to visit us. We will be offering a merit badge opportunity for scouts wanting to complete the Eagle required, Citizenship in the Society merit badge. This course has highly participative requirements, where scouts will work in a small group through intensive discussion over approximately four sessions. Scouts can find the requirements for the badge in the Troop Library page of the website. If you are interested, please see Mr. Jones for a blue card before signing up. We will be scheduling our third and final session - so if you need to finish up the requirements, please email Mrs. Price at secretary@troop273vh.net.
