Welcome to Troop 273's Website!

Our Troop meets Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30pm at Christ Lutheran Church which is located at 595 Deerpath Dr. in Vernon Hills, IL. We start our meetings in August and finish the scout year in June. Our Patrol Leaders Council is the only part of the Troop that meets on the first Thursday of the month. It is at the "PLC" meeting that we also hold our Scoutmaster Conferences and Board of Reviews.
 
Our Troop has the philosophy that is aligned with traditional scouting ideals. That is to say that the scouting program is to allow scouts to serve others by helping to instill values in young people and, in other ways, to prepare them to make ethical choices during their lifetime in achieving their full potential. We try to follow the three aims of scouting; character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. Through weekly meetings and monthly activities/camp-outs, the boys have a chance to grow into adulthood while learning life skills. The Scout Oath, Law, and Motto are what guides our scouts actions. New Makajawan 2021 Dates

For all of you planning ahead for your summer 2021, mark your calendar for Makajawan Camp July 11-17!  

Mr. Davidock was able to transfer this summer's fee to next year, reserving the Mohawk A campsite.  This site is larger and is across from the shower house. 

Driver Reimbursements Update

Driver Reimbursements - We've updated our reimbursements for campouts. Drivers who pull the trailer will be reimbursed for gas for the trip when receipts are submitted to the treasurer within 30 days of the campout. Transportation charges will be added to the cost of the campout when posted. Drivers who transport scouts will receive mileage reimbursements from Christ Lutheran to the campsite per the below table.  The camping transportation log kept in the trailer needs to be completed for each campout and reimbursements will be placed in scout accounts. The treasurer should receive a copy of the log upon return from the campout.    Reimbursement will only be provided for paid campers. Note - Makajawan and High Adventures will have different transportation guidelines.

Grubmaster Responsibilities.

  We've updated our reimbursement guidelines.  All Grubmaster food receipts need to be submitted to the troop treasurer within 30 days of campout when the expenses were incurred.

 Troop 273 Families-

By now, I'm sure you've all seen and heard the messages from District 73 and 128 regarding the preparations taken to help protect our students and families from COVID-19, preparations which include closing down outside access to school buildings.  Likely for Spaghetti dinner as well.   With that in mind, we will be cancelling our troop meetings at least through mid April.  If we are not able to reasonably assure a location for the Spaghetti dinner, at this point we are not, we will also need to cancel site sales.

Monthly Parent meetings to share ~15 min of information on a topic with parents and have time for Q&A. All parent meetings will be from 7:30 - 8:00 pm during Troop meetings and are scheduled on the calendar. We look forward to seeing you.
